Today, Naoussa's vineyards cover an area of 600 hectares, which lie on the northwestern slopes of the Vermio Mountains (2052m) at altitudes between 150 and 350 meters. The Naoussa PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) zone was established in 1972 and is the largest vineyard of Xinomavro in Northern Greece. The zone includes areas of Naoussa, Anthemia and Dovra. The great diversity of soil, as well as perfect climate conditions such as green hills, natural springs, cold winters and warm summers, give Xinomavro and its vigorous red wines multiple expressions.
